The minor in Environmental Studies consists
of a minimum of 18 hours. Four courses (12-13 hours) make up the required
core. The remaining hours (six) must come from the approved courses list.
Students wishing to enter the Environmental Studies minor must first complete ENVR 101 and 101L as a prerequisite. A course in Statistics (STAT 110 or
equivalent) is strongly recommended. All prerequisite courses may
be used to meet general education requirements, if applicable.
Students
enrolled in the College of Science and Mathematics and College of Engineering
and Information Technology must choose their remaining hours from the courses
listed specifically for them. Students who are enrolled in other
colleges should choose their remaining hours from the courses listed
specifically for their schools. No courses will be allowed to count for both
the minor in Environmental Studies and the student's major.
A student may pursue a minor in
Environmental Studies with the academic advisor's approval. The student must
declare the selection of the minor in the office of the student's major academic
dean.
South Carolina
Honors College students are encouraged to pursue this course of study,
but Honors Pro-seminars in environmentally related subjects used for credit
toward the minor must be approved by the School of the Environment Education
Committee.
