Nature and Children

The Nature-based Inquiry project (NBI) is a partnership between the University of South Carolina's College of Education and School of the Environment.   Working with teachers and children, NBI uses outdoor experiences in a powerful inquiry approach to learning.

The Children & Nature Network (C&NN) was created to encourage and support the people and organizations working to reconnect children with nature. C&NN provides access to the latest news and research in the field and a peer-to-peer network of researchers and individuals, educators and organizations dedicated to children's health and well-being.

No Child Left Inside (NCLI) is a side program of the Lowcountry Environmental Education Program (LEEP). Its specific design is to reconnect children with nature. NCLI is the first program of its kind in the state of South Carolina; however, there are similar programs in nearly every other state.

Environmental Education Organizations

The Environmental Education Association of South Carolina (EEASC) is a non-profit association with a leadership role in environmental and natural resource conservation education in South Carolina. EEASC was formed in 1977 from the Environmental Education Advisory council which guided efforts in environmental education for the South Carolina Department of Education from 1960 to 1977.

Celebrating 36 years of promoting excellence in environmental education! NAAEE is the professional association for environmental education. Our members promote professional excellence in nonformal organizations, K-12 classrooms, universities (both instructors and students), government agencies, and corporate settings throughout North America and in over 55 other countries. Since 1971, the Association has created opportunities for its members to improve their skills in creating and delivering programs and services that teach people how to think, not what to think.
